“The most soaring, magnificent, ethereal cathedrals to reason, faith or anything else were as mere unkempt and dilapidated hovels compared to the constructions – if they could even be described as such – within the Sublime.” (Iain M. Banks, The Hydrogen Sonata)
“Sublimation” is an album recorded by 4 guys who appreciate good sci-fi literature and enjoy playing riff-centric, rhythmically intense underground music.
It has been heavily inspired by the late Iain M. Banks’ concept of Sublimation, as explored in the master’s final sci-fi novel, “The Hydrogen Sonata”.
It is Dephosphorus’ 4th full-length album and it presents a few notable differences compared to the rest of their discography, which are up to the audience to find out.
Old allies of the band have joined forces for the physical release: Selfmadegod (Poland) for the CD, 7 Degrees Records (Germany) and Nerve Altar (USA) for the black vinyl edition which includes a poster, with a clear version of 100 copies reserved for pre-orders (both black and clear versions have been pressed to 180g wax).

“CALVIN: If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night, I’ll bet they’d live a lot differently.
HOBBES: How so?
CALVIN: Well, when you look into infinity, you realize that there are more important things than what people do all day.”
This quote from Bill Watterson’s iconic comic strip “Calvin and Hobbes”, resumes accurately Dephosphorus’ intentions.
With 6 vinyl releases spanning from 2011 to 2015, the Athenians are embarked on a cosmic quest. Their concept and aesthetics draw influences from cosmology, astronomy and science fiction literature, as well as the associated sociopolitical and existential repercussions.
Being impossible to describe their music style by using one or two genre references, they have chosen to call it “astrogrind”.
“Impossible Orbits”is Dephosphorus’ 3rdalbum and their darker and more violent effort to date – both musically and lyrically. Its 9 tracks clocking at under 30’, see them return to a more condensed form of expression, not unlike their critically acclaimed “Axiom”debut mini-LP.
The similarities with the latter do not stop there, as Panos Alexiadishas been once again on boardhandling the live electronics and putting an extra eerie touch to the record’s atmosphere.
“Impossible Orbits”has been recorded and mixed analogically at Unreal Studios. The artwork has been hand drawn by Viral Graphics.
Notorious grindcore label from Poland, Selfmadegod Records, has released the CD and cassette versions in June 2017, while digital copies are distributed directly though the band’s Bandcamp page.
One year later, 7 Degrees Records, the cult German label responsible for (almost) all Dephosphorus vinyl releases until now, will release the long awaited vinyl edition on the 21stSeptember 2018.
“Transcending Boring, Old-Fashioned, Biological Life”
"” (…) So where does the “astrogrind” thing fit in? Why even bother to coin such a term? There is a space-y, otherworldly, extradimensional feel to the band. Like there’s some sort of space opera being woven within our ears. It’s not a psychedelic thing though. After you hear it, it makes sense, but on paper it’s difficult to describe. Dephosphorus weave some intricate and incredible tracks. (…) This is next level grind.”" (Metal Injection)
"(...) So what does this all sound like? Well, if you sent anarchists out into the farthest reaches of the galaxy to form space-squats, they would play some sort of cosmic crust-grind, altered by the journey: the genre’s dystopian anger transmuted into fervent hunger for a real future, and wide-eyed reverence for the approaching stars. (....)" (The Quietus)
"(...) The band exists between dimensions; thematically with their sci-fi influences, but also sonically. It is a balancing act between different worlds of extreme metal. From the brutality of death metal and the volatility of grindcore, to the venomous touch of blackened influences and the attitude of hardcore, Dephosphorus mould these diverse worlds into a fiery result. (...)" (Cvlt Nation)
<<< (...) It is impossible not to be impressed by this third demonstration of strength of the Greeks, which indeed seems to be the most intense and convincing of their career. (...)" (Metalnews . fr)
<<< (...) In short, “Impossible Orbits” due to its torrential nature and therefore to the way it is “consumed” by the audience, constitutes a special beast in Dephosphorus’ discography, while including some of their best moments. >>> (Metal Hammer Greece)

LIM. EDITION OF 100 LP of 180gr HEAVY WEIGHT BLACK WAX!
So a band from Greece and a band from Finland walk into a bar...okay, not really, but Greece's Astro Grinders Dephosphorus and Finland's rising stars of the Unparalled Sense of Violent Groove have teamed up to release "Collaboration" LP - a nine song, discordantly brutal masterpiece that explores the more tortured, emotional and existential side of the contemporary extreme underground. But don't worry, it still totally grinds and pummels (and there's even a slow jam for grandma!)
Far more than a mere split, this is a trve kvlt collab: each band exchanged singers on each opening song and guitarists – AND the solo by Haapoja’s Pekka Kivela on Dephosphorus' tribute to Slayer "Shades of Reality", after all the release is dedicated to the late Jeff Hanneman.
Dephosphorus hail from Athens, Greece and play a unique musical style known as astrogrind: they endorse a cosmic, mind expanding aesthetic, striving to forge a creative damage path through the underground scene.
With “Collaboration LP,” Dephosphorus return hot on the heels of 2014’s “Ravenous Solemnity” with 5 tracks of their signature hybrid of grind, thrash and underground delights. Vocals dragged from the corpse of just-dead banshee, a multi-verse of blast-beats and glorious riffs that seize you like a rabid bear hug.
On the other side of the wax we have Finland’s Haapoja, who bring a bit more of a blackened approach to their fierce renditions. Contributing 4 tracks to the “Collaboration LP”, Haapoja return to form heard on their 2011 and 2013 lps, spitting angular, befowled and almost mathy riffs over nuclear-clock precision beats and raw-throated howls.
Borrowing musical sensibilities from black metal, hardcore, thrash and grindcore, Haapoja expound on themes of existential and cosmic plights – man lost in an unknowable universe with nothing but a few bleak stars to guide him.
Viral Graphics is responsible the stunning artwork, and the wax comes with a lyrics insert printed on gorgeous cardstock, with reverse board/uncoated paper jackets.
Available as a digital download directly from the bands, and on limited 180 gm vinyl from Handshake Inc. 7degrees Records and Nerve Altar!
Bundling all things extreme and heavy into a unique, coherent music style known as astrogrind, and endorsing a cosmic, mind expanding concept with the associated aesthetics, Dephosphorus are a creative force on the edge of the contemporary music scene.
Maintaining since 2011 and the now classic “Axiom” mini-LP high standards and a consistent discographic presence, they have been graced with the enthusiastic support of a cult following comprised of eclectic music lovers from all over the globe.
“Ravenous Solemnity”, the 2nd full-length album succeeding to 2012’s critically and fan acclaimed “Night Sky Transform”, marks a milestone for the band. The addition behind the drum kit of John Votsis, one the most talented and dedicated musicians of the local Greek scene, has been instrumental in making of this dense, 43-minute-long odyssey Dephosphorus’ most intense and majestic effort to date.
Illustrated once again with stunning artwork by analog visionaries and friends Viral Graphics, packaged as a glorious gatefold double LP pressed on 180g heavy wax by the good care of the band’s allies and vinyl specialists 7 Degrees Records in cooperation with Handshake Inc., the latter providing for the first time North American distribution for the band, “Ravenous Solemnity” is destined to be a classic gem in any extreme audiophile’s record collection. A digital version is available for a reasonable fee from the band’s Bandcamp page,
DEPHOSPHORUS carry on their „Astrogrind“ the way they did with their outstanding MLP „Axiom“, that has hit several „best of 2011“ lists in several zines and blogs and their 2 split 7“es with WAKE and GREAT FALLS and are even able to take it to the next level. There’s a guest appearence by Ryan Lipynsky (Unearthly Trance, The Howling, Thralldom) who provides his very own stellar vocals, lyrics and lead guitars. The LP will be pressed on 180g heavy weight black wax, packed into a beautiful gatefold sleeve with a lyric sheet and a poster crafted by the amazing Viral Graphics.
Recorded, mixed and mastered at Northside Studios with Miltos Schimatariotis, who also provided again the live electronics, the recordings are very agressive and organic and is a big step forward since „Axiom“.
With the help of DIYload 7Degrees provides download-codes with the vinyl.
An Astrogrind – Masterpiece in 7 Acts

Finally the album debut is here! These rawpunk veterans have released some really good stuff before and now they have made a great album with crazy good crust hardcore tunes complete with raging guitars, bassplaying and a-fist-in-the-air-refrains! One of the best scandinavian bands at the moment. Mixed and mastered by J. Rydbjer/Wolfbrigade at Wolfden Studio. First press on redblack marbled vinyl and black and white cover with full colour insert.
This is the 2nd pressing on black vinyl with full color cover and black and white insert.
The bands type of unquenchable passion and iron-willed dedication went into the making of “The Human Romance”. This is DARKEST HOUR, Version 2.0, which is certainly an upgrade on many levels. "We were able to step back and take something established and re-polish it in a way where we could present it as something new," Schleibaum explained. "It still got the classic vibe, but the music is a little bit more easily digestible, I mean, it's not like John [Henry] is singing all the time. The music is a bit more ethereal yet still aggressive as hell.
Latest full length from belgian grindcore heros. This LP RIPS!!!
"...In these days so often desolate, Days Of Desolation brings you a wonderful and wonderfully cathartic summation of all the rage and frustration and fear and ugliness that seems to swirl around us. It’s a perfectly put-together riff- and blast-fest, and one of 2022’s early grindcore highlights, handily. Grind and smash, let the last note ring ‘til it’s choked dead, press play again and repeat, and the Circles goes ‘round again…" -your last rites
In their own words: in this order of things life sometimes is cruel. Sometimes we feel caught in a strange trap. The events appear to us as a dark spiral and our destiny is get lost in it. There, it’s very difficult to understand what is right and what is wrong. There, something must burn and you must accept to lose it. From the consciousness that some things must die in order to change is born Thanatology, the new album from Dead Elephant out in June for shove, sangue dischi and riot season. Thanatology aims to investigate the process of acceptance of loss, a concept particularly timely, son of these transition times. The conflict that emerge in the feral struggle of the parts is where Dead Elephant made their own research. Musically the core of the album is represented by the meeting between the Dead Elephant music approach and the funeral march of South Italy. The claustrofobic and visceral force that emerge from the album trying to go over the stagnant preconceptions of heavy music speaking to the cerebral and to the bowels. Their powerful sonic assault have a wide range of influences that pass through the heavyness of bands like Cherubs, Jesus Lizard, Colossamite, Melvins, Black Sabbath, Celtic Frost and the psychedelic attitudes of Ash Ra Tempel, Cluster, Neurosis and Badalamenti soundtracks
Dead Flesh Fashion's second album Thorns is a dark and powerfull record packed in a gatefold sleeve. For fans of Cursed, Norma Jean and Converge. Absolutely heavy and crushing!

movements, demanding hope and despair in its deliberate parade of the sours of humanity. The album was produced by the celebrated Billy Anderson and features guest appearances from members of

This album is for those who truly appreciate the aesthetic value of deluxe packaging and heavyweight color vinyl. "Ghost Pains" is the third full-length by this long-running Welsh trio, this time with a slightly shortened version of their moniker. As before they blend an appreciation for modern, heavy music together with an experimental edge to create a swirling, hypnotic maelstrom of repetitive, naturally grooving stoner-rock, kind of like Neurosis meets My Bloody Valentine meets Sonic Youth meets Can meets The Cure.
Hardcore for the Punks ! Releasing the debut LP from DEATH OF YOUTH. They play emotional hardcore/punk with undertones of good old 90es screamo. The vocals sound angry and desperate with critical lyrics. All records comes with a download code and a beautiful 16-page booklet.
Genre-splitting at its finest!!! Maryland bands never fall short on extremity. Since the mid-‘90s STRONG INTENTION have been punishing the underground with their own blend of New York-influenced hardcore breakdowns and blistering grindcore attacks. They recording 13 new tracks early this year by Steve Austin @ Austin Compound Boston, MA with help Derek Engemann of CATTLE DECAPITATION who did Bass and backing vocals and Sparky Volyes (x-Dying Fetus and Misery Index) on lead guitar. Jason Netherton of MISERY INDEX did some guests vocals. DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION --- This grind is Energy. This grind is Rage. A big wall of sound of the finest in brutality. A big punch in your mouth that makes your heart go BOOM ! Influenced a bit by Brutal Truth, Napalm Death, Kill the Client, 13 songs of French, frenzy and sexy schizo-grindcore that cook the groove with testosterone.
DEPRAVATION plays a filthy mixture of hardcore, metal and crust. After their 2013 debut "II: maledictvm", the split with SLOWLY WE ROT showed the direction the band was heading to with the songs of their new release "feast with the rats". The current material is heavily influenced by death and black-metal (the vicious BOLT THROWER and MAYHEM style, not the ambient, progressive... 3rd wave crap), spawning 4 loathsome tracks somewhere between despair and fury. They sound ferocious across this record is angry as hell - pure anger - a swirling mass of guitar and bass pinned in by some great drumming with vocals like a sand blaster. It’s a rush, from one end to the other. If you are into BLIND TO FAITH, HESSIAN or WITHDRAWAL, you should definitely check this rager out. Don't worry about the genres - just feel the hate seething from this excellent mini-album. The one-sided, 180gr thick vinyl comes with a screenprinted b-side, a cover and inlay with incredibly blunt artwork by Gravedweller and includes a digital download Card.
"The Finnish quintet Derrida has been active starting from 2004, and have created a couple of smaller releases and a full-length since. Even so, this record, their newest EP/MLP, is the first one of their releases that I've come to hear.
The band's music is a rather original blend of light punk rock, harsh hardcore punk, and more quirky alternative metal. At times the band reminds me of Stam1na and Disease Of The Nation due to the compositions' sudden lead guitar-spices and compositional twists and their overall experimentalism a'la modern alternative metal. The difference with the two aforementioned bands just is that Derrida is rooted way deeper in punk than in metal, both lyrically and musically, and in a sense has a more serious attitude.
The A-side is rather straightforward in its somewhat preachy hostility; sure, there are a couple of fairly sudden mid-parts with cleaner and more melodic guitar-leads and other surprising spices, but the songs still stick to their basic mood and idea for their length. The opener of side B, on the other hand, is more dramatic and heavier in its description of the horrors of war. "Mustan Kullan Demoni" returns to musically lighter spheres and to the simplisticity of hardcore punk with some minor melodic tweaks in the lead-section (and ends to a really cool speed metal-solo), but the finishing tune is again a heavier and more dramatic one. It isn't as bleak as "Kansa Taisteli..." though.
The band keeps the listener on his/her toes throughout the fifteen minutes, but in a good way. After you've gotten acquainted with the songs' numerous twists and turns, along with their base character, the songs still remain as interesting pieces to listen to. The songs vary a lot from each other, but the EP still retains the main chunk of its base idea through its playing time. I think some of the guitars and shouted vocals go over the top here and there, though, tipping over the songs delicate balance by hogging the listener's attention to themselves. In the end the EP's character is too shattered to be an unified whole nor a pleasingly flowing entirety to listen to. The moods switch too quickly for the listener to be able to focus nor relate to each and every one of them.
Also, how have the lyrics of "Erotkaa!" telling about a child listening to his/her parents fighting have gotten lost amidst stories of war, greed and corruption? They're good, surely, but seem very lost amidst the lyrics dealing with way bigger-scale issues.
As a summary, is this EP good? Yes it is. The compositions are fairly original and seem to be the results of a lot of effort, the soundscape suits the varying moods for the most part, and the band handles their instruments professionally and with enough feeling. The EP just tries to approach too many styles and moods at once, making it sound somewhat disjointed and confused, akin to a compilation-release." - Damned by Light

They pumel the shit out of a drop tuned guitar with totally guttural vocals, while the whole pace of this throbs in a dis-beat style that also goes beyond into a thicker combo of crust-grind-punkcore dis style, and I'm into it. Another crust fist in the air band, with a super fucking heavy style.
After a ripping demo, here’s first album of Destinazione Finale, from Florence. Fast, short, pure angry hardcore punk! Think about Indigesti, Negazione and Bad Brains as masterpieces, add the nowadays discomfort in the lyrics and crazy artwork, you’ll get this new old furious hardcore school!
Follow riffs ‘till final destination!!

Theabsolute heaviness coupled with dark, dismal despair. Two doom titans from their respective cities of Chicago and Toronto join for this event; each presenting works of such magnitude and density, that in their playing creates
an irreparable chasm which threatens to swallow the continent whole. This is less a soundtrack but more simply heralding the end of all that is...
Put Black Flag, Minor Threat and Ceremony in a blender and you'll get this bloody mess.
These Belgian guys don't f... around. They enjoy chilling on the beach with a long island iced tea but as funny as it gets, the music still has a strong message.
