Mailorder edition (Clear wax w/ black/grey haze) lim. to 100!!!
With the threat of apocalypse constantly looming over humanity, Oakland-basedABSTRACTER supplies an apt soundtrack for the end of times, as they’ll prove once again on the quartet’s impending sophomore full-length, Wound Empire.
Centered once again on the construction of lengthy, winding, and abyssal buildup and collapse progressions, Wound Empire brings entirely new elements to the sonic palette ofABSTRACTER and of their massive and enveloping riffing, which is seemingly driven by an almost insatiable darkness and by a sinister and primordial hunger for complete annihilation. From the first disheartening notes of opening blackened sludge crusher, “Lightless,” it is in fact immediately clear that what is about to unravel on the listener is an almost absurd rampage of total obliteration. For forty-two minutes of uncontrolled hostility,ABSTRACTER rips through four titanic ten minute-long surges of darkness-fueled anger, unleashing an almost unbearable barrage of sonic devastation on the listener and snaking and winding their way down a path of complete and dismal destruction in which crust, doom metal, sludge, black metal, noise and psychedelia twist and collide into a daunting sonic downfall.
Wound Empire Track Listing:
2. Open Veins
4. Glowing Wounds
Wound Empire was recorded and mixed last summer at Earhammer Studios in Oakland, California by Greg “The Wizard of Doom” Wilkinson (Brainoil, Pallbearer, Atriarch, Noothgrush, etc.) and mastered at Audiosiege Mastering studios in Portland, Oregon by Brad Boatright (Wolves In The Throne Room, Nails, Sunn O))), Sleep etc.). The album is undoubtedly a release to look out for in the underground realms of all things heavy and dark, and is a must for fans of Altar of Plagues, Inter Arma, Thou, Samothrace, Amenra, Tragedy, Indian, Wolvhammer, Unearthly Trance and such.
On February 10th, 2015, Wound Empire will be made available on 12″ vinyl LP through Fragile Branch Recordings (US), Vendetta Records (EU/DE), 7Degrees Records (EU/DE) and Shove Records (EU/IT), on CD by COF Records (formerly known as Church Ov Fuck – UK), on cassette tape co-released by Sentient Ruin in collaboration with An Out Recordings, and digitally again through Sentient Ruin. For the LP, there will be 600 copies pressed, of which 500 will be pitch black and 100 on clear wax with black and grey haze. The CD will be in an edition of 100 hand-assembled, four-panel, gatefold, vinyl-styled cardboard jackets with a 6mm spine and insert. The tape will come in 100 units as a five-panel U-card in a clear Norelco box with a cardboard outer sleeve. The cover art, design and layout on all formats of Wound Empire was handled by the band’s friend Kevin Gan Yuen of Bay Area cult blackened noise miscreants Sutekh Hexen.
Stand by for preorder info, audio samples from the album and more to be released early in January, as well as live performances throughout 2015.

ABSTRACTER is the latest sonic monstrosity to emerge from the gutters of the San Francisco Bay Area's enigmatic extreme music underground. Formed in 2010 and coming out of complete obscurity, these four obscure slime mongers from Oakland have crafted a debut that is both mesmerizing in its seemingly effortless ability to constructmassive and enveloping soundscapes, and annihilating in it's brutal, relentless, and merciless sonic grasp on the listener's synapses. With forty minutes of music divided solely among three mammoth tracks, this bile-drenched debut is clearly a vessel for music that has at it's core the urge and primordial instinct to drag the listener into a vast, violent, and obscure world all of its own. Written in 2011 over a span of just a few months, Tomb of Feathers displays ABSTRACTER's unique sound and style of songwriting, influenced by bands like Amebix, Swans, Godflesh, Corrupted, Darkthrone, and His Hero Is Gone, and shaped by elements borrowed from a vast array of genres, spanning from black metal, to crust and doom metal, to shoegazing and psychedelic rock, to hardcore punk and noise music. The work itself is a single-themed concept album about madness and mental disease as a result of the
extreme and cynical individualism that permeates humanity. Entirely self-produced and self-funded by the band Tomb of Feathers was recorded live in three days (one track per day), directly to 22 track - 2 inch analog tape by sound engineer Josh Garcia (Melvins, Dwarves). The recordings were then passed on to Greg Wilkinson (Brainoil, Lycus, Laudanum, High On Fire, Noothgrush, OM, Atriarch, Sleep, Worm Ouroboros, Vohl) at Hear Hammer Studios for mixing, and were then shipped to Philadelphia to be mastered by James Plotkin (ISIS, SUNN O))), OLD, Khanate, etc.).
Abstracter is a blackened sludge-doom band with crust influences hailing from Oakland CA, founded in 2010 by Robin Kahn and Mattia Alagna with the intent of creating the darkest, bleakest,
and most punishing music they could come up with. Influenced by legendary bands like Swans, Amebix, Godflesh, Corrupted, His Hero Is Gone, and Blut Aus Nord. Abstracter have released two
acclaimed albums to date (2012's "Tombof Feathers" and 2015's "Wound Empire") and have shared the stage with bands like Primitive Man, Hexis, Eyehategod, Bell Witch, Mass Grave, Noothgrush,
Buried At Sea, Unearthly Trance, Acephalix, Sleep, Graves At Sea and many more, presenting the world with their own brand of apocalyptic, hopeless and darkness-fueled music driven by crushing,
grim, and dissonant guitar work, apocalyptic themes and lyrical content, and absolutely blood-freezing and plague-ridden atmospheres.
Dark Circles is a hardcore band from Montreal, Quebec. After the release of their first LP “MMXIV” they have oured Europe, and worked towards an upcoming split with Abstracter. Onward, Dark Circles continues to create and perform.
Abest from Northern Germany are blurring the lines between atmospheric Post-Metal and bleak Hardcore to create an dark and pounding emotional atmosphere. Nihilistic, apocalyptic, delay parts meet dissonant teethache-Parts - prepare for a horrortrip! Something bad has been happening to these four lads - otherwise this piece of music isn't understandable. Although beein in the early tweens, you automaticly think of some old and ugly woodworker guys destroying thing just for fun. Formed in late 2011, they released their demo in March 2012, followed by a split 7" with the irish crust-outfit Absolutist in September 2013.
Absolutist is an Irish band with some extreme, uncompromising musical tendencies. Their latest release, Ave, hardcore punk tempos, crusty production, and some sludgy bass, too. The vocals have some character to them, and there’s usually a nice element of harmony thrown into each track by the guitars.
Achilles from Rochester, New York destroy their side with 8 tracks of finest Botch/ Coalesce/ Deadguy core. Seven Bowls Of Wrath are a new band from south Germany, ex Eaves. This record shows them develop their Mörser/ Coalesce/ His Hero Is Gone sound further, well worth checking out!!
Brand new crustcore split LP between Kladno´s hooligans Jonestown and slovakian Adacta. Jonestown brings you raw and angry crustcore in the vein of old Wolfpack / Skitsystem recordings. On the other side you will find crust monsters Adacta with their "melodic" crustcore alá latest albums from Wolfbrigade or End Of All. Both sides were recorded at Professional Sound Studio under sight of mighty Kure (btw soundmaker on 007 Strahov club in Prague ..). This split should be something like acquaintance with czecho-slovakian crust core scene. Get it or leave it.
afterlife kids still play their blend of 90ies infliuenced hardcore, but
added a good amount of bremen-style to it ; lord snow do what they can do
best, intense and wild screamo - chaos, with an insane female voice...
born out of frustation or pure boredom afterlife kids will deliever you with their own brew of angst laden 90′s worshipping hardcore with a tip of good old mosh. no tough guy images, no rockstar shit, no fashion … just songs that they need to play. coming from diy bands such as henry fonda, eyedestroyed, jane hoe, call me betty, theory joe, a bit of braindead & the mustard chronicles, these 4 nerds know their shit and play it well. This reminds of the wave of brutal 90s bands from germany ( loxiran , linsay , abyss , acly , lebensreform … ) without being a copycat
After 8 years of beer-guzzling, blast-beating and numerous splits, EPs and 7 inches, The Afternoon Gentlemen are finally ready to unleash their debut full-length LP. Expect 16 tracks of tanning blasts, thrashing riffs, thumping powerviolence breakdowns and all manner of vocal styles span over 20 manic minutes, with a few surprises along the way.
The first release recorded as a full five-piece, this is easily the heaviest and best sounding Gents record to date; sharp, clear and punishing, yet capturing the band’s live sound with roaring dual guitars and natural unedited/untriggered drums. Meanwhile, the lyrical themes range from the usual preoccupation with joogling and poggery through to the social hypocrisy and unfairness of Tory Britain, the decay of the body and the dark side of alcohol abuse.
Bristol Punk Pioneers DISORDER formed around 1980, Disorder is one of the few 'big' names of UK hardcore still going strong today. The LP contains their live recordings from the Sneek Festival Gig in april 2014 raw and very intense. Nine tracks of traditional UK noisepunk. Legendary Show!!!! No more words needed!!!!!!!!!! The other side contains the next big name, AGATHOCLES mince core gods from belgium team up with 8 live mincecore attacks in perfect soundboard quality recorded at the Youthclub in Geel/Belgium march 2014. The LP comes in an inside-outside printed cover. Nice looking packaging.
GRINDCORE. Australian grinders AGENTS OF ABHORRENCE are back after a hiatus with their 2nd full-length "relief". Building from their debut full-length a few years back, AGENTS OF ABHORRENCE have mastered lightening fast and discordant grindcore that is both original and brutal. 4 new tracks by french masters of dirty sludge.
AGUIRRE just need to play dirty sludge, to eat tofu, to booze cheap alcohol, to drive 800 km each day for a gig, to make some rotten tattoos, to break guitars and mics to share their last beers with you and to fuck that world together!
Another Split LP from french sludge/doom masters AGUIRRE! Two new tracks, which break up their latest sound. These sound a little bit more melodic and it´s easy to get hooked on it! On the flip-side waits one longt track by a new japanese doom-band called GUEVNNA, which consists of ex-members of the legendary COFFINS!
new alaskan long song
hard dark parts alternate with highly melodic

After years of silence Berlin´s Allee der Kosmonauten deliever their 2nd full-length release "Kino Sojus". Yet again you´ll get an agitated immensity in explosive velocity. Pieces of dark fused hits metallic and post-rock influences in an expansively loud combination of darkness. Male and female vocals trade off hope, despair, condemnation and resistance. An incredible evolution of the band Allee der Kosmonauten.
At war with false noise: One long track from two new ultra heavy bruisers, Amarok from the US and Poland's Enth.
Enth play funeral doom with a real old school death metal feel to it. There's a real gloomy, cloying atmosphere to it that very much brings to mind early 90s European doom bands - remember Sempiternal Deathreign? Bang on! There's a lot going on here; there's a melancholic piano line and what sounds like violin near the end. Fantastic stuff, and seriously some of the best music of this style I have heard in ages.
Amarok are more straightforward and play a style more similar to the new american sludge/doom wave of the past few years. Dual screaming/growling vocals (VERY Alan Dubin!), repetitive and slow, ultra low-end riffing and sparse but solid, driving percussion, this will definitely appeal to those into Thou, Salome, Cough and all that.
Solid release, this was a collaboration between myself and Boue and Vendetta in Europe. USA copies should be obtained from Halo Of Flies and Orca Wolf. We've had a bunch of backpatches for each band screenprinted up too; if you want the pair just add an extra pound!
500 copies. 180g vinyl with fully-printed inners.
LOVESAKEN, the first full-length from AMBER, is an epic, riff-soaked record of five songs stretched perfectly over 35 minutes. uplifting and yet somber, almost bittersweet. its a record to drown in. like tears. like rain. AMBER from Marburg (Germany) playing epic post-rock with heavy sludge parts and deep atmospheric melodies with apocalyptic vocals like CULT OF LUNA, ENVY or ISIS.
Italians are responsible for quite a few of my favourite things: sumptuous wines, indulgent cuisine and eminent suits. With their debut album, Awaken, Amouth have proved Italians are also pretty damn good at writing post metal.
Awaken certainly is an interesting beast. It’s melancholy but in an uplifting way. It’s seemingly simple, while in actuality, fairly complex. It pairs dreamy, shoegaze guitar lines with vocals straight out of hell. Awaken feels like an album full of paradoxes, juxtapositions and dichotomies.
Self-proclaimed minimalists, Amouth provides what feels like a stripped down take on post-metal compared to Pelican, Isis or even Russian Circles. This makes the album feel more accessible to newcomers to the genre. Despite complex layering, one can still follow what each instrument is doing. This accessibility can also be attributed to Amouth’s songwriting prowess. As with bands such as Porcupine Tree, while each instrument may be playing a complicated part (rhythmically or otherwise), you don’t necessarily notice because they all gel so well.
The journey each track takes you on is both enjoyable and evocative. Despite making use of traditional post metal song structures, focused on evolving a repeated theme or riff to a crescendo, these themes don’t wear out the listener. This may be due to the fact that all the base riffs are rock solid, and some, such as in “City of Gold”, even have a sludge metal/stoner rock groove to them.
The songs on Awaken are constructed from several consistent building blocks. Hypnotic, repeated riffs; irregular rhythmic patterns; the pre-requisite amount of palm-muted chugging for any metal band; shoegaze soundscapes; ambient interludes; and shouted vocals that would make Aaron Turner proud.
While prominence is given to his powerful roars, Gabriele Maurizi’s clean vocals have been kept lower in the mix, a la Electric Wizard. His deep cleans add another dimension to the tracks, and I wouldn’t have minded them being a bit more prominent (especially in the first movement of “The Priest”).
“City of Gold” would have to be my favourite track on the album. The song starts with Maurizi shouting over a mammoth aural assault, featuring some of the grooviest riffs on the album. This soon fades away, making way for a whispering guitar line. The contemplative, quieter movement is the calm after the storm, the first ray of sunshine as the cloud parts: it’s still grim, but there’s hope. The entire album has that kind of vibe. After a slow and steady instrumental build, the track regains its former ferocity, and just keeps building until it suddenly drops away into the following track, “Untold”.
My only criticism is that a few of the album’s ambient passages, such as the one at the end of the title track, occasionally outstay their welcome. While they provide a refreshing respite from the crushing guitar tones and pounding drums, the album would have flowed better if these were just a tad shorter.
Overall, Awaken is a balanced, cohesive album. Amouth’s evocative, minimalistic brand of music is a great addition to the post metal genre, a thoroughly enjoyable debut album and definitely more than just an imitation. I eagerly await the band’s next work.
Berlin based black metal / hardcore crust crossover hybrid ANCST have returned for their next release. A split LP with fellow post black metal duo AST. Both bands have recorded new material which made them Progress further into their own genre niche: Relentless black metal / hardcore crossover with unorthodox elements and still very traditional ones.

Poland’s grandmasters of radical grindcore, ANTIGAMA, have completed the seventh full-length installation of their cutting edge arsenal, “The Insolent”, for release through their trusted alliance with Selfmadegod Records. Following the impact of their massive 2013-released “Meteor” album, ANTIGAMA will once again captivatingly scar the planet with the inundation of “The Insolent”. Seeing the band further along their ongoing path of progression, “The Insolent” contains another intriguing alloy of their futuristic grind savagery heavily diversified with cosmic exploration and harsh dissonance through ten new tracks of unorthodox, rapid forward-thinking metal. ANTIGAMA’s sixth studio full-length since forming in 2000, “Meteor” is the revered act’s first proper album since 2009’s acclaimed “Warning”, and following two LPs with Relapse Records, will see the band returning to longtime allies Selfmadegod Records, their first LP for the label since 2005’s innovative “Zeroland”. The recently completed composition “Meteor” once again proves all over again why the band continually reaps such accolades with the media fans as both one of the most brutal bands of the genre as well as one of the most cutting-edge. With eleven new tracks of primal ANTIGAMA annihilation, “Meteor” reverts back to some of the bands more intimately brutal early material with thirty minutes of ultra-tight grindcore explosiveness, yet continues to carry the band’s detrimentally inventive edge, integrating brief progressive soundtrack ventures and more noise and programming elements. Recorded at Progresja Studio in Warsaw with producer Pawel "Janos" Grabowski (Masachist, Lost Soul) and mastered by Scott Hull (Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Pig Destroyer), the album also features a guest appearance by Michal Lapaj from world renowned Polish progressive rock band Riverside.
I'd go as far as to say that the day Barney and the boys decide to retire, we have the heirs to the throne waiting right here on the wings. Excellent piece of metal, this is! Check it out! - PowerOfMetal.dk (Rating: 88/100)
ANTIGAMA return after 3 years of silence with the strongest line-up in the band's career: Lukasz Myszkowski - vocals, electronics; Sebastian Rokicki - guitar; Michal Zawadzki - bass; Pawel Jaroszewicz - drums, percussions.
Recorded at Warsaw's Progresja Studio with sound engineer Pawel “Janos” Grabowski, and commissioned the mixing and mastering duties to longtime friend and prominent Polish music producer Szymon Czech (Nyia, Third Degree).
Featuring six tracks of the band's monolithic crushing power and cutting-edge grindcore tactics, "Stop The Chaos" is the most mature ANTIGAMA's material to date!
APRIL provides the best three songs they have ever recorded. Screamed and bawled vocals are accompanied by wonderful guitar riffs and on the other hand there also some very fast speed metal-parts! CREUTZFELDT crank out four songs of total destruction, first song is really fast with lots of death metal influences! The other songs are with much more slower very heavy parts with always screamed vocals!
Arkhamin Kirjasto was born in 2010, when Jussi Lehtisalo and Samae Koskinen started making music together. Their aim was to combine different aspects of metal, the music they both loved. Would the guttural power of Autopsy and Nihilist work well with the sheer melodiousness of early Iron Maiden and Angel Witch? Arkhamin Kirjasto's debut album, Torches Ablaze, is the answer to that question.
This versatile record opens with "The Cult of No Return", a startling riff that pays homage to Judas Priest. "Sea of Madness" takes an ethereal trip to the realms of psychedelia while "The Bitch From Hell" pairs pure glam with death-metal vocals. The undead hissing of "Thousand Snakes" and the majestic guitar noise of "Speed, Yog Sothoth" then proceed to turn the metal blueprint inside out.
Lyrically speaking, Arkhamim Kirjasto deals mainly with the green-tinted cosmic horror of Lovecraftian mythology.Koskinen is a well-known Finnish solo artist who plays guitar in the live lineup of Xysma. When he's not managing his label, Ektro Records, Lehtisalo plays in Circle and Pharaoh Overlord, among others. The pair previously worked together in Aaron Turner's Split Cranium project.
First review says:
... It's basically a mix of harsh vocals reminding me of the Old School death metal scene like Autopsy or even some Asphyx mixed with a traditonal metal approach à la Judas Priest. All this without forgetting the huge dose of experimental influences. ...
A broken down van for broken men on the side of some motorway on the way to a show only the promoter is excited about but still the beauty of the music sends the assembled bodies into a frenzied frenzy and what seemed pointless is now evidently point full. The years spent in the realm of ignore now seem a distant future away. The rewards for effort now seem effortlessly rewarding. By way of generous funding from the ever giving state the d-beat graduated and came to work for Art Of Burning Water. Fuck your 1982 d-beat worship. D-beat went to college. This is PhD-beat infused urban heartcore of the worst kind.
Incredibly tight and brutal, AOBW create another half hour of totally panicked heavy technical metal hardcore. Think Mastodon, Keelhaul, Melvins, Craw, Botch and Zeni Geva, and then crank the speed up to near breaking-point

The debut record from Oakland, California d-beat act Atrament, Eternal Downfall, will be released jointly by Broken Limbs in the US and Argento Records in Europe on March 4, 2016. Atrament is this generation's answer to the classic and unforgiving Swedish and British style d-beat crust, Norwegian black metal, and 90's Gothenberg death metal. Produced by Greg Wilkinson (Graves At Sea, Iron Lung, Noothgrush, Vastum, Pallbearer) and mastered by Brad Boatright, Atrament's sound retains its raw wildness while posing a fatal challenge to any speaker or sound system daring enough to step in its path and risk being devoured whole.
Artwork by the talented Stephen Wilson. Layout by Kevin Gan Yuen.
Conceptually Atrament's music is built upon a nightmarish landscape of hallucinating ruin, a wretched sonic world in which humanity is rejected as a whole and a tomb of ash and radioactive fallout is summoned to encase it and devour it forever. While remaining true to the roots of UK anarcho-punk and 90’s Scandinavian-branded black and death metal, Atrament's punishing, grim and embittered songs blend d-beat crust, black metal and death metal with seamless ferocity, creating a bloodthirsty sonic tapestry where the lines between new and old, metal and punk seem constantly blurred yet perfectly defined in an endless rampage of cascading aural violence.
"This Bay Area group creates music that has underground music lovers from around the world head banging non fucking stop!!!" - CVLT Nation
Animalgrind is Future and Future is now. In the first 4 years of their existence Attack of the mad Axeman have proven, that animals are unrenounceable for Grindcore in general – and that even without releasing a Split-EP with Agathocles or Unholy Grave. Now, 'Systematic Death Slaughter' is their third Album and still these guys are sticking to the spirit of true Old School Grind. They deliver you 26 new songs that are straight to the point and as fast as snails and turtles can go. Although there's only three tracks starting with a snare-countdown, this record has everything that decent Grindcore needs: good music and a message. Fuck Porngrind, better read this lyrics, they are fantastic!Attention: No frogs or pigs were harmed in the production of this record!
finally a new full length by the goat ! and he said, this is the first record he's done that he's 100% happy with...
the austrasian goat in his black metal or doom songs always creates a special dark mood , an atmosphere that only the austrasian goat is able to put into music. on this here album he slows down a lot and takes a step back from metal ; those new songs have a touch of bands like swans or horseback, or even the neurosis sideprojects ( scott kelly , steve von till ); this album has more atmosphere than his previous releases, it will take you on a trip down to your deepest emotions...
HARDCORE/DOOM/SLUDGE. AVALANCHE from Vienna/Austria giving nods to the horned one. They play heavy hardcore with a strong tendency towards stoner- and doom-metal. Instead of attempting to intimidate with epic scope or bleak mood, as does by most doom/sludge bands, these miscreants basically cut to the chase and get right in the listener's face. The 5 newly remastered tracks (3 of them are from their "among beasts" 2010 demo) are concise blasts of mostly thudding mid-tempo hardcore rage, riding easy on primal SABBATH riff-worship. The stoner riffs could work your fillings out of your teeth - the ruptured throat sounds pissed - the bass is feedback soaked and gives a solid groove and the drums sound crisp like a nuclear explosion not very far away from your living room. Some parts are slow but not glacial and the riffs are without ever hinting at bounciness. The SABBATH-ian lineage is clear, but AVALANCHE owe just as much to the frothy-mouthed intensity of SLEEP, EYEHATEGOD, OKKULTOKRATI, PENTAGRAM and their ilk. The atmosphere here is generally one of extreme hostility, and when these guys kick up the tempo the resultant is far more hardcore than anything else. Quite simply it is a heavy journey that should be tracked down by anyone into crushing, heavy music - a drug-infused jam - and you’ll be pulled right in! The one-sided, limited and handnumbered (300) LP comes with a screenprinted b-side and cover, black innersleeve and includes a digital download card
