This is a little different from the more standard hardcore record SI usually releases. It’s a trip back to the 90’ies melodic hardcore culture, with a message for the outsiders and the punks about we haven’t given up yet! This is what hardcore is all about: the message we wish to send to each other within the community of punk and hardcore and the surrounding society! We will keep fighting, so here’s another one for the revolution! The music is melodic hardcore inspired, with lots of emotional hardcore riffs and it does not lose it’s nerve. There’s even some semi-brutal breakdowns where the bass-drum pounds out double-bass beats and generally pretty aggressive percussion, without distort the general soundpicture on this record. The vocal ranges from aggressive shouting and screaming till clean singing: it’s like old Silverstein and old melodic Deftones combined. This is a record for those who still think hardcore is about frustration and fighting for what you hold dear. A must have for people into: Silverstein, Deftones and Rise Against!
Brutal hardcore infused grindcore from Finland that has a big influence from modern Swedish grind ala Nasum, Gadget and especially Sayyadina and a lot in common with their Finnish brothers in Rotten Sound! Loads of blast and abrasive riffs with a few dark melodic touches and crusty grooves!
At war with false noise: Broadening the At War roster's sonic palate further, Portland, Oregon's Fellwoods give us a slab of bluesey, hard-edged rock with a great vintage 70s sound.
I'm loathe to do so, but I'm sure these guys (formerly The Moss) will be lumped in with the current "retro-rock" revival, which includes some great bands, and some questionable bandwagon-jumpers. The major differentiator for me is the ability to just write a GOOD TUNE-unconsciously and without pretence-and Fellwoods most definitely do that!
It's very stripped-down, direct and raw blues rock which gives a heavy nod to the proto metal of the self-titled Bang LP, the first Sir Lord Baltimore record and even early Judas Priest (Rocka Rolla is an absolutely minsunderstood classic in my opinion). The vocals aren't a million miles away from Halford early caterwaul either and fit with the sense of kinetic urgency throughout. There are some fantastic psychedelic spacey passages going on too, refelected in the beautfiful cover art by vocalist/guitarist Adam Burke.
I'll be doing a split 7" with doom masters Ice Dragon soon, and these guys are away on tour with Uzala later on this year too; expect big things! You heard it here first.
six-page Digi CD, new and factory sealed
The FORMALIST unit was founded in 2014 when long-time associated individuals from the Italian heavyweights FORGOTTEN TOMB [vocals], MALASANGRE [bass & drums] and VISCERA/// [guitars] joined forces with the aim to open new gates to total sonic horrors. Excelling in the art of low-tuned sickness, the band members managed to forge together their many influences and proceeded to write and record the first full-length album during summer 2016, featuring 3 songs for a nightmarish 40 minutes length where extreme Doom, Black Metal, Sludge and Ambient/Drone combined with a completely hostile, nihilistic approach to vocals and lyrics. This is "No One Will Shine Anymore".
2nd album by this fucking awesome band from Belgium!! We discovered bands like KRONOS & HOUR OF PENANCE... so now it's time for a new gem of dark, technical and intense brutal Death for lovers of the mentioned bands plus hints of NILE, DECAPITATED, IMMOLATION, SEVERE TORTURE...
Stay free from interpretation, reject the source of torment. Look behind the mirror, go to the other side. Wake up consciousness.

"A beautiful, intense and brilliantly heavy modern crust record which borrows from the past but helps to push the genre forward." Michael D. Thorn/ www.noecho.net
