One of the most unique entries in the metal music catalogue, Grip Inc. received a fair bit of attention for being the first serious path taken by Dave Lombardo after his definitive demise from Slayer, teamed up with the then less-known guitarist and producer Waldemar Sorychta and vocalist Gus Chambers.
“Incorporated” appears after a five year absence from the scene. Sorychta went back to producing. Lombardo went to Testament, Famtomas and back to Slayer. Vocalist Gus Chambers just went away. Getting back together for “Incorporated” is one of the best decisions this core group of individuals has ever made – this is simply their most cohesive and energetic album of their careers.
Axidance are from Russia. They play pretty dark "neo" crust meets scathing black metal. Pretty brutal and intense. On the flipside we got Gattaca from Prague (feat people from lakme) and they continue w/ there bit more crusty hardcore. Heavy and brutal and dirty ... GERANIÜM from Strasbourg/Besancon (France) celebrate their 10th year anniversary this autumn and take this opportunity to bring us their second full length album called “fear is the enemy”. Even though there had been some lineup changes, they stick to their unique style: A dark blend of Crust, 90s Screamo and Black Metal. With giving the songs room to develop, they create a soundscape of anger and despair. You could name ALPINIST, FINGERPRINT or MADAME GERMAN as musical influences, but I guess if you’re more or less into dark and blackened Hardcore you’ve heard about this band from France anyway.

A sequel of Italian doom/sludge story, that we all’ve been waiting for. This is a début long play album from Ghost Empire after taking part in “The Stranglers” compilation released by Choking Hazard Records. This is severe monolith sound that slowly runs into each cell of your body. Uncompromisingly strong doom/sludge which’s monolith (with no lack of originality) is carried to absolute. The atmosphere of rage that is not reachable for common sense makes you remember of Fleshpress, Haarp, Corrupted. The album contents 11 minute doom/drone track released only on vinyl version of the album.

POST-PUNK. GLOOM SLEEPER return to the fray with a mighty sophomore album – a manic collision of driving pop melodicism, post-punk sang-froid and four-to-the-floor garage rock energy. Physically they’re in Germany, but their hearts are scattered all over the place: Macclesfield, where they’ve absorbed the raw gothic clatter of proto-Joy Divisionists WARSAW; Notting Hill, where the darkling shimmer of KILLING JOKE somehow found its way into the world…plus all manner of US punk-rock hotspots (New York, Detroit, Cleveland, you name it) dribble into the music like blood into water. They’re at their best when the strands unfurl across each other, like when the shredded-nerve guitars of "city of unrest" soft-fade into a tense, crystalline synth finale. Meanwhile out-and-out rock’n’roll cuts like "perceptions" and "he smiles" prod and poke at your punk-rock heart, daring you to reach into their sweaty embrace while simultaneously keeping you at a distance with a foreboding stare and an outstretched arm. Cold always feels warm once you’ve acclimatised, of course, and these are songs you’ll wanna get inside – if they don’t get inside you first. Essentially, "luminous galaxies" is a stunning leap forward. The best bit? Oh, just the creeping suspicion that there’s even better to come… but for now, this is a mighty fine place to start.
POST-PUNK. Yes - GLOOM SLEEPER are very late to the post-punk party, but they don't particularly sound like the contemporary and earlier bands of the genre. Nothing from this release sounds dated or trite. GLOOM SLEEPER's style extends from post-punk to new wave, from gothic atmosphere builders to upbeat guitar pop. The band used the recording session to create a textured sonic art that married a breath taking understanding of atmosphere (without loosing its punky edge) with a sense of emotional fury. The music soars where it should and drifts when the listener needs a break from the intensity. The layered, jangly guitar releases liquid notes, the dedicated bass player pumps out rhythms, the fairly powerful drum section bites and the somewhat gothic styled vocals mixed into the songs take everything to a higher level. These guys from Bielefeld, Germany are creating their music based on the sound made popular by British bands like THE SOUND and ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN or THE WIPERS from the other side of the pond. At the same time, the influence of today's THE ESTRANGED or TERRIBLE FEELINGS is obvious. The result is a unique sound that is somehow beyond mere words – "a void" feels entirely cohesive and unified. The inventive arrangements and intricate playing can't take the catchiness out of these 10 songs - vinyl comes with a heavy printed innersleeve and includes a digital download card. "a void" will leave you re-playing to excess!

In 2014, the best punk scene in the world is in London, England, and the best band out of that scene is Good Throb. KY Ellie and the gang rage through eleven of the most acerbic punk rock cuts to be conceived in modern time, brimming over with true-life vitriol and the means to carry it out. Imagine the murderous passion of The Feederz clenched in the fists of Kleenex with a scratched-up Erase Errata picture disc jammed in a Vomit Visions sleeve and you're close to Good Throb, although there is no way to hypothesize Good Throb without truly bearing witness. Following two stunning 7" EPs, Good Throb annihilate the LP format with more tunes about moronic men, systemic misery and the many ways in which they can both get fucked. Rather than be the one to say it, I'll go ahead and wait until you hear 'Fuck Off' and consequently pronounce it the album of the year.
SLUDGE-HARDCORE/METAL. "cruel surprises" is a sick, ingenious and
undeniably heavy split record from 2 fine bands from Germany. GOLDEN
GORILLA, who reformed recently, offers 4 tracks while GHOST OF WEM
delivers 2 tracks. This is a 36min. journey of heavy sludge to awaken
your senses and rattle your bones. Up 1st are the veterans from GOLDEN
GORILLA. They're stuck knee deep in the dirty swamps of ultra (s)low,
mean and extreme heavy sludge, with heavy riffs, unhealthy like the
Louisianan midday sun, nihilistic whirls of pain and depression, that
has been cultivated by EYEHATEGOD, IRON MONKEY and GRIEF and their many
disciples. The sound is crisp, harsh and painfully defined, yet
unpolished and raw as fuck it mercilessly keeps dripping down on you.
GOLDEN GORILLA is an over-the-top assault that reeks of cheap bear,
spilt bong water, and simmering, burning rage. On the flipside GHOST OF
WEM (including BLACK SHAPE OF NEXUS members) show yet again their
mixture of slow-paced, down-tempo and blackened sludge-metal, in the
vein of THOU, MOLOCH and LOSS. Both tracks running for around 10min.
each and take no prisoner. Their 2nd track blends drone, doom, sludge
and black-metal for a more experimental feel compared to the previous
track. It's probably the heaviest and loudest track on the split and it
ends the record on a bleak depressing note. GHOST OF WEM will crush your
skull with their thick, distinct formula and atmosphere that contain a
refreshing black-metal and progressive-hardcore breeze. The album is
very well produced, but not overproduced. Everything is clearly audible
and everything has it's own space. Overall, this is an excellent
split-record from 2 great bands and an essential listening for sludge
fans. Colored vinyl comes with outstanding artwork, lyricsheet and
includes a digital download card...remember, in the immortal words of
the Beastie Boys: “let it flow…let yourself go…slow and low…that is the

HARDCORE/METAL. For over 7 years GOLDUST haunts the seedy places that lie between hardcore, punk and metal – and with their 3rd full-length "thirst" the band reaches a definite peak of their rich and uncompromising discography. Their unforgiving sound maintains deeply rooted in hardcore’s aggressiveness, yet the five-piece perfected the inclusion of various other influences that range from bleak and nihilistic black-metal to the ugly swamps of sludge with its violent, uncontrollable noise attacks. According to the band, "thirst" is the product of quite difficult times on personal and band-wise levels, thus being without a doubt GOLDUST’s most intimate and important output to date. The fact that they took care of the complete recording and the artwork all by themselves underlines this statement even more. "A Sense Of Rest" is the third full-length from Seattle-based post-hardcore/noise rock trio GREAT FALLS, featuring within its ranks formers members of Undertow, Nineironspitfire, Kiss It Goodbye, Playing Enemy, and Jesu. Illustrator, designer, musician, instructor, and letterpress printer Demian Johnston spent his formative years playing bass in legendary hardcore band Undertow before moving to guitar to form Nineironspitfire and later join hardcore icons Kiss It Goodbye. When Kiss It Goodbye disbanded, three-fourths of the band resurrected Playing Enemy, with Johnston additionally taking on vocal duties. In 2001, Shane Mehling joined on bass. By 2006, the band had run its course and Mehling and Johnston spent a few years pursuing more experimental noise in a project called Hemingway. Four years later, Hemingway changed its name to GREAT FALLS, recruiting Phil Petrocelli, who had previously played with outfits such as Jesu and Jarboe, on drums.
Boasting eight psalms of restless energy centered on death, family, art, and immortality, the disquieting sounds of "A Sense Of Rest" were recorded and mixed by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City, Forn, Ghoul, Minsk) at Red Room in Seattle and Antisleep Audio in Oakland with additional recording by Tad Doyle (Tad, Hog Molly, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth) at Witch Ape Studios in Seattle, mastered by Carl Saff (Fu Manchu, Rosetta, KEN Mode, Child Bite) at Saff Mastering in Chicago, and come shrouded in the engrossing artwork of alternative comics illustrator Farel Dalrymple.

There are three certainties in this fucked up world: Death, taxes and Great Falls. Accidents Grotesque – the follow-up to the Seattle trio’s well-regarded 2011 full-length Fontanelle – is a beacon of truth for the godless masses, a dizzying blend of mathematical hardcore and grind in the vein of Narrows and KEN Mode. Guitarist/vocalist Demian Johnston and bassist Shane Mehling are tight bros from way back when and spent the better part of the last decade peddling noise in Playing Enemy and Hemingway; virtuosic drummer Phil Petrocelli (ex-Jesu) has been a fixture in Great Falls since Fontanelle came out. Demian and Shane’s old drum machine is now in a landfill.
All three of the members of Great Falls are creative professionals, so it follows that Accidents Grotesque acts like a giant canvas for the trio’s experiments with positive/negative space and finely-etched arrangements. The intensity of Great Falls’ frenetic live performances is echoed on this intense 37+ minute outpouring, the band’s most fully-realized recording yet. Accidents Grotesque is, in turns, angular and alienating, heart-wrenching and crestfallen. This album does a deep dive to find beauty in ugliness. This is no mean feat, but Great Falls is very much up to the challenge.

Grim Van Doom, founded during 2011’s winter, manage to step into the tiny spot between common Doom and dirty Sludge, creating a musical monster in the process. Black Temple Below offer one long, brutal and blackened track. TheyŽre masters in weaving the dark and putrid art of sepulchral sludge. Their scummy and deathly music crawls and slithers like none other.
Debut full-length from Mike Williams (Eyehategod, Arson Anthem) and Ryan McKern (Wolvhammer). This is very different to Mike's usual output and provides him with the perfect outlet for his singular, dark world view. Early industrial, punk, electro and noise are all references here and are tied together by Williams' distinctive vocal style. This is some very dark stuff and definitely has the feel of Eyehategod even though it's got a totally different sound. Reference points: (early) Skinny Puppy, Throbbing Gristle, Suicide, Head Of David. Equal parts primitive industrial, noise and punk; most certainly their most fully-realised recording to date by some way.

The band originates from beautiful Florence and by nature it makes perfect soundtrack for a spaghetti western by Sergio Leone starring Lee Van Cleef and Clint Eastwood, flavored with metal riffs and punk intensity!
