Four years since their debut, Seattle death grinders THEORIES — featuring current/former members of Samothrace, Black Breath, Skarp, Book Of Black Earth, and more — are back with Vessel, ten tracks of intricate and unforgettable brutality. Recorded and mixed by Andy Patterson (Cult Leader, Gaza, Eagle Twin) at The Boars Nest in Salt Lake City, Utah and mastered by Dave Otero (Primitive Man, Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation) at Flatline Audio in Denver, Colorado, Vessel is raw, grimy, and absolutely punishing; the sound THEORIES has been striving for since their inception.
Issues the band, “It’s 2019. Everything is fucked, water is becoming undrinkable, air is becoming toxic, people are on all opposing sides at each other’s throats with hate, the wealthy and powerful practice in profits over humanity, peoples’ idea of change comes from ‘thoughts and prayers’ social media posts, depression has run rampant, and we’re all dying. This isn’t some dystopian story plot; this is where the world is. We wrote a record; that’s not what it’s about. But it’s pissed and so are we.”
Forged in 2011, THEORIES released Regression in 2015 on Metal Blade, a worthy introduction of Lee McGlothlen’s (Black Breath) caterwauling guitar riffs, Kush Karimi’s nauseating bass attack, and the relentlessly creative drumming of Joe Axler (ex- Samothrace, Skarp, Book Of Black Earth). The band toured extensively, appearing at Maryland Death Fest and Southwest Terror Fest, and sharing stages with the likes of Goatwhore, Black Breath, Mutilation Rites, Wake, and Ghoul before coming home and refining their sound into something even more intense and inscrutable. After parting ways with their frontman, the band recruited Wes Harrison on second guitar, and created their new three-vocal attack that further adds to the chaos of Vessel, an album that pulls from multiple extremes to carve out its own grisly niche.
THEORIES / WAKE - Split 7" still available!
'Innen Aussen' is the debut album by crushing fresh sludge monsters TARASQUE. Hailing from Münster, the power trio create heavy, sludge infused post-metal with an emphasis on being as loud as possible! The five tracks here are centred around enourmous, spine-crackingly heavy riffs, broken up with gentle dynamic builds and grooving, almost stoner rock tinged sections. The general sound is one of visceral weight however, and the lack of reverb-drenching or heavy effects on the vocals and volume of the instruments gives a strongly present feel to this album, and a sense of urgency to the heavy sections. 'Innen Aussen' clips along at quite a pace in general for a sludge release, and many of the tracks here are certainly neck-snappers that will sit excedingly well with fans of groove and headbanging. Definately a band to look for live!
There are bands that have this one bombastic record and are never able to come close to it again .. NOT tempest – they made a huge advancement without loosing their sound or uniqueness. They sound even heavier on these recordings although the songs are more complex and very beautifully arranged. Angry and devastating - this isnt just another record. It is a statement!
This is even heavier and more destructive than their cogita mori 7” . ambivalence features 7 trackes between epic heaviness and devastating speed, brutal vocals and loads of beauty in the guitar work. one of the most underrated bands these days. a 12” masterbeast!

The Arson Project playing crushing political hardcore/grind in the similar vein of bands like Cursed, Dead in the Dirt, His Hero is Gone and Masakari. Insanely pissed off vocals, ultra-heavy downtuned guitars and energetic drums that relentlessly will pound your body to shit, in songs that sometimes may vary from raging dbeat and blasting speeds, to moments of total sludge-doom-apocalypse. Nine years after their debut MCD "Blood and Locust" , their long-awaited full length DISGUST' which will be released on 6th of April, is recorded together with William Blackmon (Victims, Gadget) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise, Nails, Weekend Nachos, Magrudergrind etc) in the legendary Audiosiege studio in Portland, USA.
Smash the box and reject their rules. This scene belongs to each us, and it is what we make it. No doctrines were written, no parameters were set. Rules set limits and no limits exist to each of our differences and every single one of our influences. Hardcore is the sound of revolution, and revolution takes many shapes and forms. Born in the summer of the millennium, they are the future of this scene so many kids base their lives on. They are the band that will set the precedent for years to come. Indescribably and incomparable musical talent and love for music is all it took for this band to make an imprint in the great state of Texas and open a door to the rest of the world. Not metal, not indie rock, not emo, not punk rock, no sub genre could be used to describe this band exclusively. Influenced from each? Yes but not as a whole. Any band that can offer a sense of salvation to anyone. No matter what amount, is worth a listen. So here is what we offer: THE RISE. They play with a style that is, on a very basic level hardcore. But I think all of us involved are hoping that what we are doing now is a little refreshing and eventually leading up to defining something new,” explains Coco. “lots of ideas, more electronics. Getting down with keyboards, a piano, sequencers, samplers, this band is breaking ground on some interesting hardcore ideas. A must have for everyone in progressive and radical music.
RED/ BLACK MIXED VINYL
Two UK bands combine to produce a record to reflect the bleak realities of the modern world. A record that evokes the dark, miserable and disorienting experience of watching humanity destroy itself.
The This Ends Here side of this intriguing split is 18 minutes that claim to be five songs but could be anything from one to a dozen depend on who’s counting, proving the potential for modern crust to incorporate a challenging variety of musical genres. It opens with Seeds, a continuation of the sound on the 2014 Afterwards 7“ - anthemic d-beat breaking into heavy riffage – before careening through a chaotic collection of styles including punk, doom and post-rock and finally descending into a bleak, atmospheric outro. Lyrically, the themes of environmental and social collapse run throughout these songs, with a haunting sample from Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, whilst musically evoking emotions such as anger, despair and even hope that accompany these dark themes.
Conqueror Worm are a three piece bass and drums deathgrind band that combine the viciousness of bands like 324 and Fear of God with the atmosphere of Gorguts and the barbarism of Celtic Frost. This release sees them exploring dungeon-crawling grind that is equal parts cavernous and ear-splitting. A roughly hewn collection of very nasty tunes, the tracks lyrically and thematically mirror the This Ends Here side- songs about the eradication of nature are paired with reflective sci-fi themed blasts and a fizzing, noise-laden production. Drawing from doom and noise influences the bass runs through as many amps and distortion pedals as possible creating a truely monolithic cloud of noise, occasionally penetrated by swarming blast beats and tortuous, wailed vocals in the vein of Khanates Alan Dubin.

Hailing from Stockholm, This Gift is a Curse play a combination of hardcore and sludge with great influences from both the occult black metal-scene as well as drone soundscapes. Spanning from slow, epic sections to faster, energetic parts, the songs show a great diversity in both musicianship and creativity. Since the debut CDEP the band have played a lot of shows and done a number of tours in Scandinavia as well as Europe, meanwhile working on their debut full-length album. During the late summer and early fall of 2011 the band recorded what came to be “I, Guilt Bearer” at a secret location north of Stockholm. To be free from any time limit, they asked the producer Magnus Björk (who worked with bands like Meleeh and Children of Fall) to move his studio to this specific location so the band could work with the recording without boundaries and whenever they felt like. What you hear is a harsh, honest and straight forward sound combined with a solid core of musical- as well as dark blunt emotional depth.
"Baton Rogue’s apocalyptically heavy sludge bastions THOU are releasing a humongous triple LP set entitled ‘Ceremonies Of Humiliation’, compiling all of the band’s material from various split releases over the years. In addition to their highly anticipated forthcoming full-length ‘Heathen’, THOU has this release ‘Ceremonies Of Humiliation’, a collection of all of the band’s musical output from split releases prior to the release of their mammoth 2010 opus ‘Summit’. That means all of THOU's contribution to their splits with Black September, Leech, Mohoram Atta, Salome and Haarp are all accounted for in this triple vinyl set."

Toronto, Ontario's aptly named TITAN puts the listener in a stranglehold from the 1st seething instance of feedback and doesn't relent until the very last jack-hammer of the bass drum has finished. TITAN are a blitzkrieg of vicious guitar accented by a commanding rhythm section and laced throughout with the ferocity of the lead vocalist. Quoting influences such as the early material of doom pioneers NEUROSIS, Canadian hardcore legends URANUS and metal/hardcore masters CONVERGE, TITAN has managed to create something powerful, extreme and ultimately unique. The allure of TITAN's immense and brutal sound is once more present in their newest full-length called "colossus" - their best recorded stuff so far! Housed in an eyecatching gatefold cover!
This has two new tracks of germanys JUNE PAIK with a playtime of more then 15 minutes! This is even heavier then their 12" but it still has the emoviolent edge! WHITE VINYL, single-sided, screen printed B-Side
Travolta live at Grind The Nazi Scum. Eternal hails to Mario Zumpe for inviting us, the true German master of grind.
This record is dedicated to all people who believe in an anti-racist world. Smash fascism, grind the nazi scum!
Black or white vinyl with a screenprint, stickers and the black version also has a booklet with anti-racist drawings made by children.
Powerviolence from the most boring town in Belgium, Heultje. Started out as a Powerviolence/d-beat band but evolved by adding more grindy parts. Influenced by powerviolence, grind, HC/punk and even some emoviolence in the newer songs. Very outspoken on and off stage
Transatlantic Rat's Atoms music feels somehow weird. Twisted and heavy groovy PsychDoom from two thirds of Ufo Gestapo (RIP). Occasional sax, clarinet, harp and keyboards give their side of the split a slight jazzy dissonant feeling. It rises from the heavy rocking ground to some spacy, but dirty and drony feel, and then again rocks and waves one heavy like being in a space capsule, where history and phrases flow by and mean something nothing. Second songs name "Rise Reverse in the Middle of Nowhere" speaks this well. Warm and distantly cold the same time.
BirdEye have gently and humbly taken the b-side. But this is none other than Edgy Burning Witch's new band. Evil and psychedelic in its own inimitable way. The music is organic but noisy. Is this Doom with Ambient parts? Whatever. The heavy songs splay soundscapes of trippy mental states (song title "Hivemind" points in that direction), that appear pathological and disturbing but are cleansing. An archaic and mediatative approach to that style of music that hovers above things, because the band knows its game well.
On top of all that is a really beautiful and fitting artwork from Jason Wagoner on brown natural cardboard.
Sickness In' is the third album from Portland's most wretched, Trees. The band presents a two-song assault, each one roughly fifteen minutes in length, each a slowly rotting heap of droning slow-motion deathdoom riffs decomposing into clouds of black amplifier hum, high shrieking voices and tortured screams drifting against the glacial roar of smoking amp stacks and short-circuiting hardware. Where the previous album had Trees employing some interesting rhythmic chaos and longer stretches of ambient filth, this time around the band drops some of their most leaden, majestic riffs yet into their slow-mo filthstorm, massive saurian doom riffs slipping WAY out of the confines of 'groove' and deep into rumbling fields of charred ritualistic chanting and almost Abruptum-like states of psychotic noise.
After some split lp’s and ep’s here comes the first full length record of this technical grind band from Glauchau/Germany. Although everything is colored it’s a dark and evil record with some surprises.
A split lp of these great grindcore bands. Trigger, one of the most active bands at the moment, with their brutal and evil sound and Abjured, an old school death/grind band from Halle/S. share this record.
