From the ashes of DrDoom and Greyline, Teethgrinder has arisen. Hailing from the northern part of the Netherlands they have the intention to create music louder, more aggressive and even nastier than they did before. Influenced by a variety of genres, they are giving Grindcore a new approach, with no boundaries to hold them back. Inspired by all the horror this world offers and the rage it evokes within them, they are sure to crush stages and skulls.
Teething is a young band from Spain. On one-sided 7-inch Ralph EP you can find 4 harsh, rough, brutal grindcore tracks. It is produced by Koke from Manufacturas Sonoras studio from Madrid. On the B-side you can see etched graphics designed by Marina Kanevsky Zouravliov.
Spain's superb hardcore punk misfits clash with Finland's finest grindcore deviants on this unforgivingly brutal split 7” that's going to pummel you into submission from the very first notes. Take a deep breath because this record will suck the air out of your room with it's six tracks of the most stupidly heavy, furiously fast and absurdly aggressive hardcore grind violence. Ever.
This is split #8 and it starts with Chicago's THE SWAN KING, made up of members of Circle Of Animals, Asschapel and Planes Mistaken For Stars. Part of the Seventh Rule family, some would compare them to a mix of Drive Like Jehu and High On Fire. I leave it up to you to decide if that's accurate… On the other side, it's TELLUSIAN from Sweden for their vinyl debut. This is members of Crowpath exploring a slightly different approach to music. Dynamic structures and progressive yet still hard hitting riffs, are proof that Sweden has nothing to worry about a shortage of good heavy/extreme bands.
"heavy chaotic emoviolence from texas not unlike shikari! or like david would say : ...this record will have some super-heavy riffs and combine them with lulls of melodic, atmospheric gloom.... some insane double-bass and doesn't really focus as much on breakdowns as it does on pure speed... which basically means that the vocalist screams like a fucking banshee.... http://openmindsaturatedbrain.blogspot.de"
As this split’s title suggest, this is all about black/thrash (or thrashing black metal, put it as you fancy). TERRORIST are from the states, feature an OBEISANCE member and completely nail it with what sounds like a modern and blackened take on KREATOR. Greeks NECROCHAKAL are more on the black metal side of things and their new drummer, who doesn’t play on this recording, is John Votsis from DEPHOSPHORUS.
split between german oldschool noisy grind from Terrorazor and 8 songs of grind mixed with punk and hxc from dutch slapendehonden, expect some extreme noise, be warned
New Orleans' The World is a Vampire delivers a serving of unsettled noisy goth punk. Add doses of 90's grunge and goth influence but create something truly nightmarish with it as they layer on bouts of vicious hardcore and moments of complete dementia. The sound is blown up as if played through mud, with huge distortion and the maniacal, shrieking, spectral howls of Bryan from Thou. This is a masterful melding of genres feat. KC from Thou/Treadles, Clayton of Heat Dust, Scott from Secret Passage, Michael from Silver Dodling, and Rachel of Bitchface. Absolutely fantastic ugly punk for these times. Their side closes with a cover of Gone Sugaring by Mirah. Also from the swamps of New Orleans crawl Torture Garden with 3 tracks of ripping thrashing crust. Straight up charging riffs pummel away as Emily's vocals exude complete disgust, all with undercurrents of melody that keep it from sinking completely back into the ooze. Screenprinted covers and handmade purple paper inner sleeves round out the project.
From, Knoxville, Tennessee and feature members of Life Crisis – these folks play raw , angry, and fast hardcore! Coated with a bit of Southern crust, they lay it out all in a Southern hardcore platter that will crush you.
Brutal Bay Area three-piece grindcore, equal parts guitar, vocals and drums. First release after their 9 song, 3 minute self-released demo
CD. Some have called Thousandswilldie the West Coast answer to Pig Destroyer and have compared them to bands like Benumb, Discordance Axis, Dropdead and Assuck. 25 songs in 8 min - a must for anyone who enjoys enraged and diverse song-writing within the realm of faster heavy music.
TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION are really hard to pin down as one specific sound, or even to put a specific genre on them. They combine many forms of metal / hardcore / punk with tempo changes, howling vocals, guttural vocals, and straight forward blasting. Even with the blasting they still manage to tie in some radical guitar tones and harmonies! Even putting in a track, that stands out in originality and will have you thinking that ‘Bugs’ are actually crawling all over you! FUBAR strand out as a blasting onslaught of old school and furious grindcore! They do a fantastic job channeling the classics and will continue to appeal to fans of Napalm Death, and Phobia. They are really at the forefront of the new dawn of grind, while still paying homage to the classics. Furious, blasting and angry energy round there tracks out.
