An ugly cloud of bile and filth descends from the ether. Towards you. Eons of hateful condensation. An air mass of pure filth and anger. It rumbles into existence, and expels a downpour of hot, wet piss, shit and disease that quickly pools and rises – your ankles, your waist, the top of your head. You are engulfed by a physical manifestation of evil…music…a waterfall of raging emotion – acid rain – that strips the body down to a raw, vulnerable and clamoring mass of nothingness that quivers and suffers, waiting, to transcend the void of human existence, to skip the light, and arrive defeated, to a new world of pain, darkness and unrest. This is the world of ‘False.’ The new album by WAKE.
So maybe it’s a hard sell, but with “False,” Calgary’s WAKE have created one of the most angry, vicious and volatile albums you’ll ever hear. Period. Seriously. Eleven songs of raw, unwavering and filthy hardened, deathened grind that come out of nowhere, leave you gasping for breath, and wondering what the hell just happened. This is a chaotic, pulsating, airborne event, not an album…it’s a return to form for extreme music – real danger, real anger and real beats and riffs. “False” is the sound of a prisoner getting shived. Of a mother stealing her son’s Ritalin for dope. Of a one-legged, starved dog, straining to eat the maggots in its own ass. And when the hate stops you’ll know it’s over, and if you were paying attention, and you’ve got the strength, you’ll play it again. And again and again.
Grind for tru players, “False,” is being released in Europe by 7 degrees records, and in North America by Handshake Inc. Please don’t let this one pass you by.
Recorded by Ryan Kennedy
Mixed and Mastered by Colin Marston
WAKE are a grindcore band from Calgary, Canada. Going hard and hitting the road running since forming in the summer of 2009, they're about to release their 5th record/2nd full-length LP "FALSE" on 7Degrees Records in Europe and Handshake Inc. in North America.
After a 7" and several tours through the North American continent, Canada's grinding hardcore band WAKE's first longplayer combines a good dose of blastbeats, sludgy midtempo parts, doublebass machinegunfire and sometimes even melodic crusty outbursts into a fresh own style. With the brutal wall of sound, mixed and mastered by Scott Hull at Visceral Sound, this album is a monster!
Walls are basically everything a hardcore band should be these days. Aggressive, provoking and unsettling. Their music has been described as brooding and downright scary at times. They are heavy and fast but with plenty of room for slower and creepy parts. They remind me of the first times I heard a Born Against record. The mixture of pissed off lyrics with such fitting music. Or maybe Dead and Gone, with their basslines and dissonant guitars who make you feel miserable each time you put on their record. You know how some bands are described with images of axes, hammers or other equipment to just describe how brutal they are? Well, Walls are like a knife to your throat. This is the European pressing, Iron Lung records will be handling the US version
Sned from Flat Earth Records, who played drums in nearly every band during the last 2 decades, as well as some other folks from BOXED IN, HEALTH HAZARD and KITO. On their debut full-length they deliver fast raw distorted british hardcore-punk with a hint of classic scandinavian hardcore.
Hardcore for the Punks ! releasing the debut LP from WAR EMBLEM (Philadelphia) in partnership with our friends at Protagonist Music. WAR EMBLEM features former members of Off Minor, Kill The Man Who Questions and Saetia and play brutal hardcore/punk with undertones of crust and d-beat. The LP includes 15 songs.
For their third album, the band has brought their music to the next level and released their strongest work to date with THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN, recorded, reamped, mixed and engineered by Serge Spiga at The Clockwork (Cremation, live sound engineer for Conan, Monolord, Grinding Delemont Festival, Yob, Electric Wizard, Cephalic Carnage…), mastered by Dan Swano at Unisound Studio Nasum, Bloodbath, Millencolin, Incantation, Coldworker, Dark Funeral…), produced by their own new label LIXIVIAT Records. Artwork direction by the tortured soul of Hugo Charpentier (Mauvaise Foi Editions).
This mammoth record, including 15 songs in 23 min, features their strongest songwriting to date – while also delivering their most bone crushing breakdowns yet and terrifying, break neck speed. Prepare for grinding ear rape…

WE ARE THE DAMNED, Portugals first and finest address concerning pure old school metallic punk, return with a brand new full-length on Bastardized Recordings. The new album entitled HOLY BEAST delivers 14 brand new relentless and savage tracks. The Album bleeds and sweats the atmosphere of pure old school metallic punk anthems, unleashing a new found ferocity, nihilistic rage and intensity. The band approaches a whole new concept on both death metal and punk styles. HOLY BEAST was tracked down early in 2010 by Swedish producer Ulf Blomberg, responsible for albums by groundbreaking bands such as Exhale, Inevitable End or End Of All. Ulf was a natural choice due to his visionary look towards the band's new material. The result is a new vicious and shocking atmosphere that will sure appeal to fans of most genres. WE ARE THE DAMNEDs most vicious album to date will appeal to the indecent and obscene, a truly uncompromising album that explodes in the face of fashion! Strictly Limited to 300 copies!
Raging new Powerviolence band from bielefeld. features members from other quality bands like UNRU and Sømerset. WEAK TIES combine fast, '80s-influenced hardcore, thrashing blast beats, female vocals and urgent lyrics on there first album. 12 Track - 16 Minutes. Think of PUNCH vs. HOLY in Charles Bronson’s garage! Oh Yeah!
Second fulllenght by We Are Idols if available! Album called “Powerless” contain 11 brand new tracks, bit like and bit unlike the ones from their debut. Still good old death’n'roll but way more “death” than “roll” this time. Right inbetween The Stooges and Eyehategod. Seriously. Lyrics without puns, although sad and cruel. All of them on the matter of struggling of consciousness forced in human flesh with brute urges. Lots of symbolics and literary references. Grab some cheap whiskey and a handfull of prozac, it’s gonna be really grim. All packed in gatefold LP cover, there's also limited edition on white vinyl!
After a brutal, face melting demo tape Frankfurt, Germany’s Weiche are back with this heavy hitter. Their 11-song vinyl debut is packed with brutal, gloomy and extremely sludgey Doom Metal with Hardcore leanings. The speed is usually mid-tempo, but they thrash it up here and there. Sounds like a combination of the heavy doomey sounds of Electric Wizard, Cathedral and Paradise Lost with the slower heavier moshy parts on Napalm Deaths Harmony Corruption when they weren’t grinding. A heavy auditory assault of down-tuned guitars with an extremely brutal, throaty singer that’s bursting with negativity. Dark music for dark times! The LP includes a two sided printed insert.
heavy 380g cover, reverse board print
and heavy 300g insert
519x black vinyl
At war with false noise: At long fucking last! Finally glad to release this 12", which has been happening since over six months ago. Let's forget about that, though. What we have here are three tracks of old-style power electronics, reminds me particularly of the Sutcliffe Jugend "When Pornography Is No Longer Enough" record. Very minimal in places, with periods of lull interspersed with piercing explosions, static bursts, and constant weird, heavilly processed vocals. Lyrics are very stream-of-consciousness stuff, and the delivery is bang-on, incredibly jarring stuff. Completely at odds with a lot of PE acts around today who tend to go for the muscular beefed-up American-style approach, this is very much more in the old Come Org vein, aesthetically in in the musical delivery. Good stuff.
300 copies. White thick card sleeves with old-school stick-on wrap-around covers with a lyric insert. Note: ONE SIDED 12", around 14 mins worth of music.
two of the heaviest bands around team up for one split record, australia's whitehorse once more deliver ultrabrutal sludge/doom with one of the sickest vocalists around, think a sludgier corrupted ; negative standards from the states are all over the place once more, mixing aggressive hardcore / power violence with mean sludge and even some black metal, and some samples added, sick mastered by james plotkin ; artwork by kevin gan yuen ( sutekh hexen )
left over and cold, served in the dark in desperation. that's what WHITEHORSE's new album sounds like, 3 new tracks of doom ! mean doom ! with some of the most brutals vocals you have ever heard. drafting members from the punk, grindcore, experimental, rock, and noise scenes WHITEHORSE often garner comparisons to the likes of CORRUPTED, KHANATE and WINTER
this was originally released on conspiracy records in 2007, but back then it wasn' released as it was supposed to be ( back then it was released as a one sided 12" with one track missing, that's 22 minutes of music... ) and the other ones were cutted off... ), so here you get the lp as it was ment to be be !!! this is heavy !!! heavy is sound, heavy is doom, heavy is serene, heavy is space, heavy is motherfucking WHITEHORSE ! one of the most brutal doom bands around ! drafting members from the punk, grindcore, experimental, rock, and noise scenes WHITEHORSE often garner comparisons to the likes of CORRUPTED, KHANATE and WINTER
WHO’S MY SAVIOUR from Rostock& Berlin/ Germany exist since 2001, consist and consisted of ex-/ current members of Wojczech, Cyness, Bad Luck Ride on Wheels, Curse the Cross, Helwec.
After Splits with Elysium and Idiot Savant and a full length CD called „Glasgow Smile“ on Power-It-Up Records, several shorter and longer tours with the likes of Pretty Little Flower, Idiot Savant, Skarp, Needful Things, just to name a few, the band finally recorded their new tracks after being on hiatus for some years.
And within these 7 new Tracks in 18 minutes, they carry on their own interpretation of modern Grindcore, just where they left the stage in 2007 with „Glasgow Smile“. Driven by blastbeats, they blend in various styles of other noises, such as hardcore, metal, math- and post-metal to create music that is pushing the boundaries to other spheres and beyond. Elaborate guitar and bass work, well placed samples, and the organic yet brutal sound are making the recording to what it is, as „Wall of Sickness“ is meant to be a tribute to mankind...
Recorded by Pierre at Ostseerockstudios between Spring 2012 and Summer 2013, Mixed by Pierre Bernhard & Peter Schade, Mastered by Pluto Poserslaughter at Vintage Mastering, Aug. 2013
Hailing from Denmark, Whorls deliver a beast of debut LP on a bunch of labels from all over the world.
Founded in 2011 WHORLS (with members of Putrifier) play a modern (or „post“) style of black metal and
atmospheric darkend hardcore with chaotic and sludgy outbursts. They released a very well received demo in 2012 and an evenly great reviewed 7“ called „Lvmen Natvrae“ in 2013. Now these four guys from the city of Slagelse attack again with their aggressive and dissonant mixture of
Black Metal and Hardcore. Fans of CELESTE, Hexis, This Gift is A Curse and Altar of Plagues will be all over this.
"a stunning slab of blackened doom metal, or doomed black metal, whatever you prefer. The truth will once again be somewhere in the middle, but rest assured, this is one bleak and haunting album, loaded with despair, sorrow and heartbreak. This is one to play loud while falling down on your knees and spewing out all frustrations, anger and fear. This is something for the darkest regions of your inner-self.
Wilt is a Canadian quintet, hailing for Winnipeg, Manitoba. This album is their debut and damn, it's an intense one. Continuously balancing on the borders between death metal, black metal and the whole post-subgenres, these guys throw three massive anthems (plus one short instrumental outro) in our faces. Each of them is a huge epos of alternating bleak doom passages and fierce blast beats driven slabs of black metal and each of them is accompanied by eerie screams.
The result is an album that will haunt your dreams, crush your spirit and wreck your emotions but it's damn well worth it. There's little else to say about this, and that's quite a shame because I'd like to go on recommending the hell out of this band. So, if you're an extreme metal fan who loves to dwell into the deepest and darkest regions of the human soul, lock yourself up this winter and play this piece again and again. Your life will never be the same..." merchants of air
WE HAVE THE BLACK VINYL (other Version: gold)
Unique mix of black metal, post metal, 80’s wave and more obvious-to-hear-hard-to-pinpoint influences with an ever-present old-school vibe going on.
POST-HARDCORE. After last years selftitled 7", WITHERS are about to release their first 12" called "lightmares". The fourpiece from Linz, Austria is approaching music intensely, and is driven by vocal outbursts, and disruptive guitars. They are developing a sound that will assault your senses, feedbacks punctuating the eardrum to an apocalyptic backdrop. Lyrically they want to keep it deep and speak in general about human/social atrocities, troubled minds, search of self-awareness, and so on... Bands like CONVERGE, BOTCH or THE CURSED might come to mind listening to them. Vinyl comes with eyecatching artwork, thick inside-out cover, black innersleeve, lyricsheet and includes a digital download card.
Witte Wieven, hailing from Tilburg (NL) and Reiziger (NL), a solo effort from Laster’s N., have joined forces to create a musical trip that drowns the listener in a trance-like yet fierce atmosphere.
Both bring forth one long, atmospheric black metal track that slowly unfolds its mysteries.
“Met Beide Benen In Het Niets” (Witte Wieven) has a warm, melancholic feeling to it. The song is meticulously built up layer per layer and slowly creeps into your head. Reminds of (old) Altar Of Plagues.
“Dauw en daad” (Reiziger) will hypnotise you with its lo-fi, chiling riffs, mesmerizing drums, icy synths and howling shrieks.

This is the first LP called "Modern Hypocrisy" of the band WWHIRR from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. To be precise, they come from Klang Valley (not Kang, but close, and it means “sound” in German) - how cool! A whirlwind of a name for a band from Klangtal. The trio dispense with a guitar, which makes the sound rather interesting. Themselves, they describe their style as Power Violence, but that's too easy. They sound very 90s, in the positive sense that they try to create their own style from various style elements. From The 00s on most bands played a retro sound, before that originality was still being sought and sometimes rewarded by the fans. WWHIRR for sure have something very much of their own going. At times slow, sometimes fast, rarely at a classic Power Violence pace - but always with a lot of power and variety. The vocal style is like a mix of Japanese HC and Power Violence, and the lyrics are in English, in addition to well-chosen samples (very 90s, too). They even have a song with "Liar" in the chorus that reminds me of the song "Liar" from the ROLLINS BAND. So the whole package is pretty cool. Merciless Records didn't release any new records in easily 15 years and returns with this release in 2014. Malaysia has one of the most active punk scenes in the world and the band is a very important part of it. They should also be very good live. A very special band from Malaysia, brought to you by a German label
